Days 4 1/2 and 5
After shopping at Makro and delivering the food and hygiene items to the storeroom of Pastor Олег Сидорчук, Jared Trounce and I went to the Square for dinner. Good food, great company. Walking home from dinner, I popped into the Lavender Hotel to find Conrad working. Conrad is the front desk clerk at the Lavender, who was a great help facilitating rooms for refugees in the early months of the war. Great to see him.
I got word from the rest of the Ukraine team, who flew into Warsaw, that they would arrive Krakow at 2am. I was hoping due to their late arrival they would want to sleep in and all go help with the food distribution. Nope…we were on the road by 8am on our way to the border. The Team: Nazar, Arcady and Ruslan who I travelled with last time. Meeting for the first time and after a day feel like my brothers: Lyubomir, Vlad and Alex.
Before we got to far out we stopped to grabbed 4 boxes of body armor and helmets we will take to Kyiv for Jason Stout. Thank you Oleksiy for getting up early to let us into the garage.
At the border groups of soldiers heading to training. Pray for their safety!
Stopped in Lviv to have lunch at the home of Lyubomir’s Dad and Mom. Lyubomir hasn’t seen his parents since 2019. Watching the reception was very touching. His Dad hugged him, kissed him, held him, held his face and kissed him some more. It even brought tears to my eyes…it was beautiful. It’s a reception I will never forget. Lyubomir is not the prodigal son but that is what I imagine the reception was like.
Thank you Fosters, Julie Benson, Jared Trounce and ReachHumanity for getting the job done back in Krakow while we travellled further East. Sorry for bailing on you!
We arrived Rivne and we’re greeted with a feast! It is good to be back in the Silkovskyi home. Wonderful parents who raised 11 amazing kids, I have now meet over half of them. One of them at Chick-fil-A in Twin Falls!
